How might you continue your internship experiences beyond the scope of the HTHMA internship? What ideas, skills, connections, and so on will you bring back to the rest of your life? Will you continue working with your internship beyond January of 2011?
In retrospect to the month I have spent at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, I have to say that being exposed to the real work place was astonishing. Thinking back to my first day, I was nervous because I did not know exactly what to expect; therefore I was intimidated. Working at a non-profit institution like the Science Center allowed me to recognize how vital it is to be dedicated, focused, and zealous. Once I started working here I became more comfortable with my surroundings and the people I work with. I had various tasks that all encompassed my project which was to view, work, and experience the Marketing World. These tasks that incorporated my project included taking surveys, preparing an array of presentations, and assisting the overall semblance of the museum. Basically, my job was to help the Science Center, and primarily the Marketing Department in any productive way possible. Social interaction skills, critical thinking skills, and learning about science were a grand annexation of skills. As for bringing my ideas and skills back to school and my outside life; I think that it would be great if I could use the skills of thinking outside of the box I have acquired here, and apply those skills in school. When I look at the Science Center, I see a museum that has been pleasing guests with extravagant exhibits and IMAX films, and to know that they have done all of this while being a non-profit museum shows that working hard for ideas that truly are brilliant is work the hassle. Bringing this mentality and approach, and applying it to my persona will greatly benefit me. As I have written in my previous blog posts, and I will reiterate again: interning at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center has been a grand, memorable experience. I would strongly pursue another internship here, or even a job -- at the Fleet's consent, of course.
