Photo Essay

One of my first major tasks was to see every IMAX movie. This was important because in order to be knowledgeable and work at this museum, you obviously need to know your domain. I got to watch three different movies: Galapagos, The Ultimate Wave Tahiti, and Hubble. This was actually a useful experience because when I went to the Big Bay Whale Days event, (which I talk about later on) some people actually asked me about our films, so seeing them was definitely important.

This is a photo of the construction site of our new exhibit "Cellular Journey" which opens in March. I was involved very much in this particular exhibit because I had our guests fill out surveys pertaining to this exhibit, and I also did a PowerPoint presentation for the Marketing Crew and others that work at the Museum.

The picture above shows me conducting my weekly marketing presentations. One of my major tasks was to go around the museum and find exhibits or subjects that interested me. I did three presentations and I really enjoyed the process. I got to show my presentation skills to the marketing crew and also learn about Mount Etna in Sicily, Embryonic Stem Cells, and Jupiter.

The photo above was taken Downtown at the Big Bay Whale Days Event. This was a annual event that took place at the newly opened cruise ship terminal. The point of this even was to attract tourist and San Diego residents to booths of different museums, shops, and restaurants. My mentor, two other interns and I set up a booth and brought along toys for the kids to interact with and some mind games for the adults. We also handed out different coupons and pamphlets to the guests, and answered to those who had inquiries.
